"Weekend is a pioneering work from the early days of radio, commissioned in 1928 by Berlin Radio Hour. In a collage of words, music fragments and sounds, the film-maker and media artist Walter Ruttmann presented on 13 June 1930 a radically innovative radio piece: an acoustic picture of a Berlin weekend urban landscape."

In situ action - Kodama (Hitoshi Kojo + Michael Northam), Nobu Kasahara and Jane Remm. Recorded on 21 March 2005, at an abandoned house in Puidoux in Switzerland. The sounds were mostly generated by the discarded objects in the house, - a bed, chairs, broken glasses, a cupboard, sofas, walls, etc… partly with some small instruments, - flutes, horns, a kalimba, and a contact microphone with a small battery supplied speaker.
During the recording, Nobu was acting like an hundred years old man, and Jane was acting like a wicked elf.
This version was edited by Kojo for this radio program.
Kodama:http://www.octpia.com/kodama

"It's spring, 1977. Robert Ashley locks himself in his fifth floor rooms in the Lake Merritt Hotel in Oakland*. He needs privacy.

He has been composing the libretto for a music film. Now a record possibility has developed; Lovely Music, just starting up, wants something from him. He's got the words, but not much time. He has tried to get various people to sing his words (or speak them or anything.) No luck. On the day before work is supposed to begin in a recording studio but with no work yet to do, he goes into a room with a tape recorder and sings the words himself. What comes of it is The Park and The Backyard. Eventually, he recognizes what he's created as the first and last episodes of his opera for television, "Perfect Lives," the middle opera of a monumental trilogy tracing the history of the movement of consciousness across America (east to west.) This original recording with Ashley's voice, accompanied by "Blue" Gene Tyranny on keyboards, and "Kris" on tablas, remains a classic. It is a masterpiece in its simplicity of form and in the purity and intensity of its effect on the listener."

The Sound of Space 2008-04-19: Terry Fox

Afirma Terry Fox: "Sound is a means of communication, a universal language. It enters the healthy ear without impe-
diments of langage or prejudice It is perceived by every culture in the same way: via the auditory
canal. It enters the ear without consent of the listener. It vibrates the eardrum. It requires no intellectuali-zation. No intelligence is necessary. No common language need be spoken. Illiteracy is irrelevant. Sound pauses as pulses in the air.

Performance is, for me, an attempt to discover a language or method of communication which
bypasses these barriers as sound does. The most important aspect of performance is the elimination of media or mediating or condition. The action is performed live and in front of its receiver. It exists only on these terms and in this context and no other: like eating. My work with the labyrinth led increasingly to the almost limit less sculptural possibilities of sound."

O trabalho de Tsunoda tem sido publicado pelas editoras Selektion (Germany), WrK (Japan), V2 (Netherlands), Sonic Tiger (US) and Lucky Kitchen (US), Naturetrip e Sirr .
